A little over a week away and I will be boarding a non-stop flight from Pittsburgh to San Francisco for my second trip to Oracle Open World. I guess it's time to start planning what I need.
Leading up to next week, I have been checking out all of the available sessions and trying to build the perfect plan. Last year I crammed my whole schedule with back to back sessions only to have to cancel them on the fly. I learned the hard way, no matter how much you want to see you need to take a break, take it all in and also enjoy the OTN lounge and exhibitor floors. Besides that you will also want to check out the unconference. I have purposefully left room on my schedule just for that.
Besides the schedule there are some very important things that you will need to know before leaving for the conference.
1. Make sure you have very comfy shoes.
2. Make sure you have a backpack to put everything in. Last year upon check in we were given a very nice Open World backpack.
3. Bring a water bottle. Open World is trying to go GREEN.
4. Bring enough socks to change them out half way through each day. There is no better feeling on your feet then a fresh pair of socks.
5. Bring a light jacket. It gets very cool in the evenings.
6. Bring a big enough suitcase to carry back all of the wonderful swag!
7. Check out the list of Open World links you need to become familiar with. They include
Oracle Mix, Oracle OpenWorld Blog, Oracle OpenWorld Facebook, JavaOne/Oracle Develop group on Oracle Mix, JavaOne/Oracle Develop Facebook
For more info on what it was like to attend Oracle Open World for the first time check out my my Oracle Open World from a newbie blog postings. Here is the link to part 1 http://gvwoods.blogspot.com/2009/10/oracle-open-world-09-thoughts-from.html

Hi George,
Be sure to drop by Booth 3130 when you're in OOW - we are running a blackjack focused game with a $1,000 top prize and runner up prizes including rare Irish Whiskey valued at over $150 per bottle.
I'd also love to pick your brain in relation to SAP a little :)
Regards,
JK
