Woohoo! My blogger pass has been approved by Oracle, I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, I had to call to find out if it was approved or not. Thanks Dave for the tip on giving registration a call, sorry you weren't approved this year. The guy I spoke with on the phone said it was approved July 9, but at the moment of writing this, I still have not received an email from Oracle stating it was approved. I may be wrong , but I thought that was how it was going to be communicated.
Anyways, I booked my airfare, hotel and rental car. This year, I was lucky enough to get a reservation at Hotel Palomar, this place looks pretty hip. I am flying Delta, which has better in-flight services than USAir and will be arriving around noon on Saturday. This gives half a day to visit some "tourist" attractions, which I didn't do much of last year. I know it is not really a tourist attraction, but I need to drive up to Cupertino and stop by Apple. Does anyone know, is the on-site store accessible to all?
Don't forget, this year Sunday is MySQL day at Open World. I don't officially work with MySQL at work, but I have helped a few co-workers out. However, just about any side project I am involved in, I use MySQL, so I will be interested in checking out some of the sessions.
I am so looking forward to this year's Unconference, in my opinion some of the best sessions available. Plus it's right beside the OTN lounge.
By the way, If you haven't heard this year's Appreciation event is featuring Black Eyed Peas, Montgomery Gentry, Steve Miller Band and Don Henley. Should be a good time.
Make sure you check out the Oracle World Blog
